How to prepare and optimize video files for InfoBox playback.

2 min readLast updated: May 2026

Introduction

Videos bring motion and life to InfoBox screens, but they need to be in the right format and optimized for smooth playback. This guide helps you prepare videos for InfoBox.

1. Required Format

InfoBox supports one video format:

  • MP4 with H.264 codec: the only supported format.
  • .mov, .webm, and .avi are NOT supported.
  • If you have videos in unsupported formats, convert them to MP4 before uploading.

Warning

Only MP4 (H.264) video format is supported. Files in .mov, .webm, or .avi format must be converted before uploading.

2. Resolution and Duration

Video specifications:

  • Recommended resolution: 1920×1080 px (Full HD).
  • For portrait screens: 1080×1920 px.
  • Keep looping videos under 30 seconds for best results.
  • Longer videos (over 1 minute) work well for informational or training content.

3. File Size and Compression

Optimize file size:

  • Keep video files under 200 MB for fastest loading.
  • Use compression tools like HandBrake (free), Clideo.com, or Adobe Media Encoder.
  • Target a bitrate of 5–10 Mbps for Full HD content.
  • Smaller files load faster and use less device storage.

4. Audio Considerations

Important notes about audio:

  • Videos on InfoBox screens typically play without audio.
  • If your message relies on sound, add text overlays or subtitles.
  • Avoid flashing or rapidly moving elements that may be distracting.

Summary

For InfoBox: use MP4 (H.264) format, 1920×1080 resolution, keep files under 200 MB. Convert unsupported formats (.mov, .webm, .avi) to MP4 using HandBrake or similar tools.
