Adding slides to a screen

Introduction

A screen plays its content as a continuous slideshow, looping top to bottom. Each item in that slideshow is a slide. This article walks through adding slides directly to a single screen. If you want the same content on multiple screens, build a playlist instead and assign it to those screens.

Step 1: Open the screen

Find the screen in the Platform:

• Sign in to app.infoboxi.com.
• Open All screens (FI: Kaikki näytöt) from the side menu.
• Click the screen you want to add content to.

Step 2: Click Add new slide

Open the content picker:

• At the top of the screen's slide list, click Add new slide.
• The Add new content window opens with content types grouped into categories: Media, Web, and Integrations.
• If the screen plays a playlist in synchronized playback, an amber warning tells you that adding content here takes it out of sync with the other screens. See Synchronized playback across screens.

Step 3: Pick a content type

Pick a category, then a content type. What you see depends on the screen:

• Media → Image / PDF: JPG, PNG, or GIF images, or a PDF file. Pick from the Media Library or upload a new file.
• Media → Video (Pro screens): MP4 (H.264). Plays without sound.
• Media → Playlist: embed an existing playlist as a single slide on this screen. Each playlist shows its slide count, size, loop length, and previews.
• Web → Website (Pro screens): show any web page. Paste a public HTTPS URL into the Website URL field: this also covers YouTube videos and Power BI dashboards. A live preview shows how it renders.
• Web → Bus schedules / Train schedules (Pro screens): live departures from Fintraffic and regional transit authorities. See Bus and train schedules (Fintraffic).
• Integrations → Google Slides / Canva (Pro screens): import a presentation or design and keep it in sync. A badge on the card shows whether the account is connected.
• On Basic screens, image content is available; video, website, and integration types are Pro features.

Step 4: Configure the slide

Fill in the type-specific fields:

• For images, videos, and PDFs: pick an existing file from your Media Library, or upload a new one. The library picker has the same list and grid views, filters, and folder chips as the Media Library, and remembers your view choice.
• For Website slides: paste the URL and set the refresh interval in minutes.
• For playlists: pick which playlist to embed.
• For Google Slides and Canva: pick a presentation or design. See Google Slides presentations and Canva designs (connected).
• Click Add to insert the slide into the screen.

Step 5: Reorder and adjust

Tune the slideshow:

• Drag slides up or down in the list to reorder.
• Click any slide to fine-tune its settings (display duration, schedule, rotation, visibility). See Slide settings.
• Use Duplicate on a slide card to copy it, or Select to act on many slides at once. See Duplicating slides and editing many at once.
• Click the preview button (FI: Esikatselu) to see what the slideshow will look like before publishing. It skips hidden slides and slides outside their schedule, and tells you which.

Step 6: Publish

Push the slideshow live:

• Click Publish (FI: Julkaise) at the top of the editor.
• A success toast confirms publishing.
• Within a few seconds, the screen starts playing the new content.
• Screens with unpublished changes are counted in the Unpublished card on the All screens page and listed in the Needs attention bell, so nothing gets forgotten.

Direct slides vs playlists

When to use each approach:

• Direct slides are right when content is unique to one screen and unlikely to be reused.
• Playlists are right when the same content should play on multiple screens, or when you'll want to reuse it elsewhere later. See What's a playlist.

Summary

Adding a slide is a click-add-publish flow: pick a category, pick a type, configure, publish. For content that should reach more than one screen, use a playlist.
