Creating and editing a playlist

Introduction

This article walks through creating a new playlist from scratch and editing an existing one. You'll add slides, reorder them, configure their settings, and publish. Once published, the playlist plays on every screen you've assigned it to.

Step 1: Create a new playlist

Start in the Platform:

• Sign in to app.infoboxi.com.
• Open Playlists (FI: Soittolistat) from the side menu.
• Click Create playlist (FI: Luo soittolista) at the top of the page.
• Enter a Playlist name (required) and an optional Description.
• Click Create playlist to confirm.
• The new playlist opens in the editor.

Step 2: Add slides

Build the playlist's content. The Add new content window opens with the same categories as on screens: Media, Web, and Integrations.

• Click Add new slide in the slide list.
• Media → Image / PDF: JPG, PNG, or GIF images, or a PDF file. Upload directly or pick from the Media Library. Uploading a PDF adds every page as its own slide; the pages finish processing in the background.
• Media → Video: MP4 (H.264).
• Web → Website: show a web page. Paste a public HTTPS URL into the Website URL field; a live preview shows how it renders.
• Web → Bus schedules / Train schedules: live departures from Fintraffic and regional transit authorities. See Bus and train schedules (Fintraffic).
• Integrations → Google Slides / Canva: import a presentation or design and keep it in sync, same as on screens. See Google Slides presentations and Canva designs (connected).
• There's no Playlist option here: playlists can't be nested inside other playlists.
• Click Add to add the slide to the playlist. Repeat for as many slides as you need.

Step 3: Reorder slides

Set the play order:

• Drag slides up or down in the list to change their order.
• Slides play in top-to-bottom order, looping continuously when the last slide finishes.
• Individual screens can override this order for themselves; see Assigning playlists to screens.

Step 4: Edit individual slides

Fine-tune per-slide behaviour:

• Click any slide to open its settings.
• Configure display duration, schedule, rotation (0°, 90°, 180°, 270°), and visibility.
• Use the Change action to swap a slide's image or video; the slide's schedule, duration, and visibility are preserved.
• Use Duplicate to copy a slide, or Select to schedule, hide, show, or delete several at once. See Duplicating slides and editing many at once.
• Click Save to keep the changes.

Step 5: Publish

Push the playlist live:

• Click Publish (FI: Julkaise) at the top of the editor.
• The button shows Publishing... briefly.
• A success toast confirms: "Playlist published successfully" (FI: "Soittolista julkaistu onnistuneesti").
• Within a few seconds, every screen using this playlist starts playing the new content.

The rest of the toolbar

Beyond Add and Publish, the playlist editor's toolbar has:

• Schedule playlist: one schedule for every slide in the playlist. See Playlist scheduling vs slide scheduling.
• Synchronized playback: play the playlist in step across screens, or stagger it. See Synchronized playback across screens.
• Permissions: who in your organization can see and edit this playlist.
• Preview: plays every slide regardless of schedule.

Editing an existing playlist

Updating the playlist later:

• From Playlists, click Edit (FI: Muokkaa) on the playlist card. The card shows preview thumbnails, the number of screens using it, slide count, size, and loop length.
• Make your changes (add, remove, or reorder slides; change settings).
• Click Publish to push the changes to all assigned screens. When a playlist has unpublished changes, its card on the Playlists page shows a Publish button too.
• Save draft (FI: Tallenna luonnos) is also available if you want to save changes without publishing yet.
• Duplicate (FI: Kopioi) on the card makes a full copy of the playlist, without its screen assignments.

Summary

Playlists are the building blocks of multi-screen content. Once created and published, they play wherever they're assigned, and one edit updates every assigned screen at once.
