Checking device status
How to check whether a screen is Online or Offline, and what to do when it's not reachable.

Introduction
You can check the status of every InfoBox screen from the Platform at any time. Status tells you whether the device is currently reachable from our servers and is fetching content updates.
Where to look
On the Screens page:
- Sign in to app.infoboxi.com.
- Open InfoBox screens (FI: InfoBox näytöt) from the side menu.
- Each screen row shows its current status: Online or Offline.
- Click a screen to see its detail view, including the last sync time.
What Online and Offline mean
The two states:
- Online: the device is connected to the internet, talking to our servers, and actively fetching the latest content. New publishes reach it within seconds.
- Offline: the device has lost its connection to our servers. Possibilities: device powered off, WiFi unreachable, the local network is down, the corporate firewall is blocking InfoBox domains, or the device has crashed.
- Status updates roughly every minute. A briefly-flapping status (Online → Offline → Online) usually means a network blip, not a real outage.
What happens during Offline
Offline doesn't mean black-screen:
- The screen keeps playing whatever content was last cached locally on the device.
- New publishes you make on the Platform queue up; they reach the device when it comes back online.
- When the device reconnects, it automatically fetches updates and resumes normal operation. No manual recovery required.
When a screen stays Offline
If a screen has been Offline for more than a few minutes:
- Power: confirm the device is plugged in and the screen is on.
- WiFi: verify the WiFi network is up and the device is connected. Restart the device by unplugging power for 10 seconds.
- Firewall: corporate networks may have blocked our domains. See WiFi setup for the required ports and hostnames.
- Device crash: rare, but a power-cycle (10-second unplug) usually clears it.
- Persistent: if it stays Offline after these checks, contact kasper@infoboxi.com with the screen name and Device ID.
Summary
Online means everything is working. Offline means the device can't reach us right now, but cached content keeps playing. Most Offline issues are network or power. Restart and check WiFi first.
