Per-weekday time windows
Set different start and end times for each weekday on the same slide or playlist.
Introduction
Most lunch menus aren't open at the same hours every day. A typical Finnish restaurant might serve lunch 11:00–14:00 on weekdays but only 12:00–15:00 on Saturdays, and stay closed Sundays. The basic Daily constraint control assumes the same time window applies on every selected day. Per-weekday time windows let you pick different times for each day of the week, all on the same slide.
When to use this
Reach for per-weekday time windows when:
- Different opening hours per day (a common case for restaurants, gyms, retail).
- Some days are full-day, others are time-limited (e.g. weekdays show all day, Saturday only morning).
- Specific weekend events that have their own time window distinct from weekday programming.
How to enable per-weekday windows
Open the slide's schedule:
- Click Ajasta on the slide (or Ajasta soittolista on a playlist).
- Toggle on the Days of week (FI: Viikonpäivät) section.
- Click Customize weekdays (FI: Mukauta viikonpäivät).
- For each selected weekday, you'll see a row with the day name (Ma, Ti, Ke, etc.) and a time window option.
All-day vs custom times
Per-weekday, choose one of two modes:
- All day (FI: Koko päivä): the slide plays the entire day on this weekday. No time window restricts it.
- Custom times: set a specific start and end time for this weekday only.
- You can mix freely: e.g. Saturday All day, Mon-Fri 11:00–14:00, Sunday hidden entirely.
Step-by-step: lunch menu with weekend hours
A worked example for a restaurant lunch menu:
- Open the lunch-menu slide and click Ajasta.
- Toggle Days of week on. Click Customize weekdays.
- Select Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri. For each, set 11:00–14:00.
- Select Sat. For Saturday, set 12:00–15:00.
- Leave Sun unselected (so the slide doesn't play Sundays).
- Click Save, then Publish.
- The slide now plays at the correct hours each day, automatically.
Tip
Save the lunch-menu pattern as a playlist instead of a per-screen slide. That way you build the schedule once on the playlist and assign it to every restaurant location at once. See Playlist scheduling vs slide scheduling.
Interactions with other scheduling layers
Per-weekday windows don't replace other layers:
- Date range still applies. If a date range is set, the schedule only takes effect inside that range, regardless of weekday windows.
- Show or hide still applies. Set the slide to Hide if you want the per-weekday windows to be hide-windows instead of show-windows.
- Daily constraint is overridden when per-weekday windows are configured. Once you set per-day times, those win.
Troubleshooting
Common per-weekday issues:
- Slide plays at wrong hours: check that the device's time zone matches your expectations. Per-weekday times use the device's local time.
- Slide doesn't play on the day you expected: verify the weekday is selected (toggle on) AND its time window covers the current time.
- Saved but no change on screen: as always, click Publish at the top of the editor.
Summary
Per-weekday time windows let one slide handle different opening hours per day, all-day on some days, time-restricted on others. Combine with date range and show/hide for full control. The lunch-menu pattern (M–F 11–14, Sat 12–15, no Sun) is the most common real-world use.
